College volleyball: Riverland dumps Ridgewater, 3-0

Oct. 3—AUSTIN — The Ridgewater Warriors dropped their eighth consecutive match this season, suffering a sweep against the Riverland Blue Devils on Saturday.

The Blue Devils of Austin won their three sets 25-15, 25-23 and 25-21.

"The girls have been working hard off the court to become connected and carry that connection onto the court," Warriors head coach Amanda Bohlsen said. "We are starting to see that hard work play out and today's game was one step in that direction."

Ridgewater right-side hitters Harley Kunstleben and Gabby Randt both tallied 11 kills.

Kunstleben, the sophomore captain from Paynesville, added a team-high 21 digs. Randt, a freshman from MACCRAY, recorded 15 digs and one ace block.

Another Ridgewater captain reached over double-digits in digs. Sophomore libero Tayler Schmidt, also from Paynesville, had 18.

"Although the scores didn't fall in our favor we ended the game unified as one team," Bohlsen said. " We look forward to bringing that family mentality to the second half of our season."

The Warriors return to action against St. Cloud Technical and Community College at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Ridgewater.
