College wrestling: Schlangen, Holien pace Ridgewater grapplers

Nov. 20—MINNEAPOLIS — Five Ridgewater wrestlers took to the podium competing at the Auggie Invite at Augsburg University on Saturday.

Austin Schlangen and Cole Holien had the top finishes for the Warriors.

Wrestling in the freshman 285-pound bracket, Schlangen went 3-1 with a pair of falls. Schlangen is from Eden Valley-Watkins.

Holien, from Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City, finished 3-1 in the freshman 141 bracket. He also went 3-1 while scoring one fall.

Ross Meskimen placed sixth at the gold 184 bracket after going 1-2. Taedon Nichols (3-2) and Brady Holien (2-2) tied for eighth at freshman 149.

Two other area wrestlers competed at the Augie Invite.

* Concordia-Moorhead's Ty Bisek won the Gold 133 bracket. A sophomore from New London-Spicer, Bisek beat Upper Iowa's Kaden Anderlik by 5-4 decision in the championship match.

* Concordia-Moorhead's Mason Swanson was fourth in the freshman 285 bracket. The Willmar alum went 2-2, losing to Schlangen in the third-place match.

Ridgewater takes on the Concordia-Moorhead JV on Friday, Dec. 2 at Moorhead.
