Colleges reach out to Lincoln College students

After the shock of hearing the news that Lincoln College will close at the end of the spring 2022 semester students are now wondering what is their next step in their educational journey. Below are some area colleges that are offering help in the transition.

Lincoln Land Community College, Springfield

Lincoln Land Community College is forming a response team made up of academic, financial aid and student success coaches to assist students from Lincoln College who reside in the LLCC district and may wish to transfer to LLCC.

Lincoln College students who reside within the boundaries of the LLCC district (all or parts of 15 counties in central Illinois) may text 217-387-8585, call 217-786-2260 or email LC2LLCC@llcc.edu for assistance. Heartland Community College, Normal and Lincoln

Heartland Community College is currently working on ways to help Lincoln College students. For more information Lincoln College students can call the Advisement office at 217-735-1731 or visit www.heartland.edu/advisement/transfer/transferStudent.html.

Bradley University, Peoria

Bradley University will be present at the Lincoln College Transfer Fair. Bradley University welcome students at any academic level and offers on-line degree programs that are comparable to the ABE degree program. Financial aid is done on a one on one basis and financial help is available with the transfer scholarship and the Federal Financial Aid programs. Eureka College, Eureka

In an effort to help the Lincoln College students complete their bachelor degrees, Eureka College will be matching the net tuition cost for all Lincoln College students who choose to transfer to Eureka. Students who meet the criteria for the Eureka Promise program, will be awarded the full tuition scholarship, providing eligible students a chance to obtain the rest of their bachelor degree tuition free.

As part of the agreement, Eureka will expedite the admissions process, waive the application fee, accept Lincoln College students from all programs and, most significantly, meet out-of-pocket net tuition costs of current Lincoln College students.

Illinois College, Jacksonville

Illinois College is offering a streamlined transfer process and scholarships for Lincoln College students, with a tailored approach based on each student’s situation.

All Lincoln College students in good academic and social standing will be accepted to Illinois College.

IC is working with the Higher Learning Commission to develop a teach-out partnership for Lincoln College students that will maximize the credits they can transfer and make the transition easier so they can graduate on time. Additionally, special scholarships will be offered to support Lincoln College students.

Millikin University

Millikin is prepared to assist Lincoln College students with articulated academic programs and financial aid during this time of transition.

Millikin University will offer a tuition match for undergraduate and graduate students at Lincoln College who choose to transfer to Millikin. Under the "Lincoln Match," students transferring to Millikin will pay the same amount of tuition to Millikin that they would have paid at Lincoln College for the coming academic year. Additionally, Lincoln College students who transfer to Millikin with senior-year status also can take advantage of existing discounts.

To be considered, students should submit the free application for admission to Millikin University at millikin.edu/apply. Once students apply, their official transcripts from Lincoln College can be requested by Millikin to expedite the admission process. Representatives from Millikin's Office of Admission will follow up with students individually to discuss a plan of study and timeline for completing their degree at Millikin.

Lincoln College is planning an on-campus college transfer fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, April 14, in the Lincoln Center. A virtual college fair for the Accelerated Bridge to Education (ABE) and graduate students is forthcoming.
