A Colombian man has been jailed for 60 years after he was admitted abusing nearly 300 children over a decade ago.

Juan Carlos Sánchez Latorre, in his late 30s, used the alias ‘Big Bad Wolf’ to share sickening images and videos of his abuse online.

A court in the city of Barranquilla heard how Latorre committed the crimes in 2007-08.

Prosecutors at his trial said Latorre approached his victims online before letting them at shopping centres, offering them money in exchange for sexual contact.

Victims who refused were often attacked by Latorre, prosecutors said.

After five years on the run, Latorre was eventually arrested in the city of Maracaibo, Venezuela.

It is believed he committed other crimes while in the country.

Latorre was extradited to Colombia in September 2018, where he will now serve out his sentence.

Neighbours of Latorre said they never once suspected that he could be a dangerous paedophile.
