A Colorado man accused of murdering his wife told FBI agents that he submitted a ballot for Trump in her name because the 'other guys' were cheating

Suzanne Morphew has been missing since May 2020 after not returning from a bike ride.
Her husband, Barry, was recently arrested and charged with her murder.
He also admitted to sending in a ballot voting for Trump for her while she was still missing.
A Colorado man accused of killing his wife told FBI investigators that he voted on her behalf for then-President Donald Trump in the 2020 presidential election, court filings show.
Suzanne Morphew, 49, went missing in Chaffee County in May 2020 after not returning from a bike ride. Investigators have searched for her with no luck other than finding a few personal items. About a year after she went missing, her husband, Barry Morphew, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, tampering with evidence, and attempting to influence a public servant.
Leaked court documents now reveal that Morphew was charged with more crimes: forging public documents, a felony, and an unclassified misdemeanor mail ballot offense.
Court filings show that investigators were originally tipped off after the Chaffee County Clerk's Office received an election voter ballot that was "predesignated for a Missing Person."
The filings show that the ballot envelope did not contain the required signature atop, but did have a handwritten date and the name of "Barry Lee Morphew" under the signature line of the "Witness's Legal Name."
When FBI agents interviewed Morphew about this, he said that he didn't know he committed a crime.
"I didn't know you couldn't do that for your spouse," Morphew told investigators. He went on to say that he submitted a vote for her because he thought that the 2020 election was being rigged by the Democratic Party, so he submitted a vote for Trump under her name to "give him another vote."
Morphew also said his wife would have voted for Trump if she were around to send in her ballot.
"I figured all these other guys (Democrats) are cheating," Morphew said. "I know she was going to vote for Trump anyways."
Lori Mitchell, the Chaffee County clerk and recorder, told Insider that the forged ballot was not counted in the final vote total from the county as the ballot envelope was missing Suzanne Morphew's signature.
Morphew has not entered a plea for his murder charges or the recent ballot fraud allegations. His next court appearance is set for May 27.
