Colorado’s start to 2022 is historically bad

The Colorado Buffaloes will roll into October with an 0-4 record. The Buffs have now started three different quarterbacks through three games, with freshman Owen McCown getting the nod this past Saturday against UCLA.

Things have not been good in Boulder, and some are wondering if head coach Karl Dorrell makes it through the rest of the season or not.

How bad has it been? Well, historically bad. As Brian Howell of BuffZone pointed out, there have been six Power Five football teams to begin the year with four straight losses by 25 or more points, and the Buffs are one of them.

Even odder is that this hasn’t happened since 1957 when the Indiana Hoosiers did this exact thing. As Howell also pointed out, Indiana did win the fifth game, so maybe that’s some good news for Colorado.

In Week 5, the Buffs face Arizona, and this might be the best chance Colorado has all year to get a victory.

Things are not going well in Boulder, and at this rate, Dorrell’s massive buyout might not even matter for AD Rick George. Let’s see if the Buffs can turn things around with October approaching.
