Colorado State football transfer portal tracker: Departures, additions to Rams
Welcome to the wild offseason of college football before the 2023 season.
The transfer portal has led to chaos in previous years and there's a new twist now.
Specific transfer portal windows mean the chaos is concentrated. It is now open and experts expect more than 1,000 FBS college football players to leave their team in a bid to find a new one.
There will be plenty of roster movement at Colorado State before the opening of the 2023 season, with coach Jay Norvell expected to sign around 40 new players.
This tracker will follow who is coming and who is going throughout the offseason.
When are the transfer portal windows open?
The first transfer portal window opened Dec. 5 and closes on Jan. 18. The spring window is May 1-15.
Those are the times players can enter the portal, although a player can choose to leave a program at any time. More than a dozen CSU players left during the season but couldn't technically enter the portal until the window opened. Graduate transfers can enter the portal at any time.
Players do not need to commit or sign at new schools during that time, just enter the portal.
Who is joining Colorado State?
CSU will focus the majority of the class on high school signees but still a double-digit number of transfers will likely join the Rams between December and August. We'll track who they are.
Jakob Belton: The 6-foot-7, 290-pound offensive tackle announced Jan. 29 that he would transfer to CSU from Long Beach City College. He played in nine games last season for LBCC.
Keyonta Lanier: The 6-foot-1, 160-pound receiver announced Jan. 16 he would join CSU from Mountain West foe New Mexico. Lanier had five receptions for 87 yards and a touchdowns as a freshman in 2021. He didn't play in 2022. He was a three-star recruit out of high school.
Matt Thomas: The 6-foot-3, 275-pound defensive lineman announced Jan. 10 he would transfer to the Rams from Rhode Island. He was a two-year starter and had 46 tackles, 6.5 tackles-for-loss and 5.5 sacks. He formerly was at Rutgers before transferring to Rhode Island. He is expected to have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
Saveyon Henderson: The 6-foot-5, 310-pound offensive lineman will join CSU from Division II Lane College with two seasons of eligibility remaining. He played in all 10 games for Lane College last season.
Ron Hardge: The 6-foot-1 defensive back will join from Oregon State. He played in nine games (four starts) in 2021 and played four games in 2022 before deciding to transfer.
Oliver Jervis: The 6-foot-5, 300-pound offensive lineman will join CSU from Monmouth. Jervis was a starter the last two seasons.
Tyrell Grayson: The 6-foot defensive back is a two-time All-WAC honoree. He had 203 total tackles and three interceptions in three years at Utah Tech and will now join the Rams. He has two years of eligibility remaining.
Ashton Wolff: The kicker is expected to transfer from Central Washington with four years of eligibility remaining. He'll join as a walk-on.
Dallin Holker: The 6-foot-5, 240-pound tight end announced Dec. 15 he would join the Rams. He caught 19 passes for 235 yards and a touchdown as a freshman at BYU in 2018 before serving on a mission trip. He he caught 14 passes for 200 yards with a touchdown in 2021 and had nine catches for 86 yards in three games in 2022 before announcing his intention to transfer.
Vince Brown: The 6-foot-7, 215-pound tight end announced Dec. 13 he would transfer from the College of DuPage. He had eight catches in two seasons at DuPage.
Dominic Morris: The 5-foot-11, 175-pound cornerback announced Dec. 12 he would transfer to CSU from Furman. He's played in 19 games at Furman 31 tackles, three interceptions and nine passes defensed.
Drew Moss: The 6-foot-4, 280-pound offensive lineman announced Dec. 8 he would transfer to CSU from Lamar (FCS). He's played in all 22 games in two years at Lamar and will be a junior.
Tanner Hollens: Formerly a CSU running back, the former Colorado Gatorade High School Player of the Year announced he's returning to the Rams. He'll join as a walk-on.
Players leaving Colorado State
The following players are either in the portal or have left the Colorado State football program since the start of the school year in August. Not all who left will transfer and continue playing football. A reminder that entering the portal isn't binding and players are allowed to return (although it is quite rare).
Jaylen Thomas: The 5-foot-10 running back was at CSU for four seasons. He had 130 career rush attempts for 448 yards and five touchdowns. He caught 30 passes for 235 yards.
Owen Snively: The 6-foot-4 offensive lineman appeared in eight games in 2022, making two starts.
Tanner Arkin: The 6-foot-5 tight end had 14 catches for 116 yards and played in all 12 games in 2022. Arkin will transfer to Illinois.
George Miki-Han: The 6-foot offensive lineman appeared in seven games in 2022, making six starts at center. Miki-Han will transfer to Lindenwood.
Drake Martinez: The 6-foot-2 tight end didn't appear in any games in two years at CSU and has three seasons of eligibility remaining.
A'Jon Vivens: The 5-foot-11 running back had 178 carries for 638 yards and a touchdown at CSU. The former receiver also had 15 catches for 100 yards in his career.
Ty McCullouch: The 6-foot receiver had 41 catches for 596 yards and a touchdown in his career at CSU. McCullouch will transfer to Montana State.
Devin Phillips: The 6-foot-1 defensive lineman had 101 tackles, 13 tackles for loss and seven sacks in 40 games played as a Ram. Phillips will transfer to Kansas.
Melquan Stovall: The 5-foot-8 receiver had 108 catches for 1,064 yards and one score in three years with Nevada. He left CSU after three games in 2022, where he had 13 catches for 106 yards. Stovall will transfer to Arizona State.
Tywan Francis: The 5-foot-11 safety had 176 tackles in his career at CSU, plus two forced fumbles. Francis will transfer to Temple.
Dante Wright: The 5-foot-8 receiver had 120 catches for 1,660 yards and seven touchdowns in his CSU career. He also had 245 rush yards. Wright will transfer to Temple.
Thomas Pannunzio: The 5-foot-9 Pannunzio He spent time at both receiver and in the secondary while at CSU and had a game-winning punt return TD in 2021. Pannunzio will transfer to Central Michigan.
Cayden Camper: The kicker set the single-season record for field goals made with 25 in 2021. He also set a single-game record with six made field goals in a 2021 win over San Jose State. Camper is a 70% career field goal kicker, with his percentage outside 30 yards less than 60%.
Gerick Robinson: The 5-foot-7 receiver Robinson had one catch and four punt returns last season and no catches this season. Robinson is transferring to Nevada.
Robert Floyd: In 16 total games over two seasons as a Ram the defensive back had 23 tackles and two interceptions.
David Bailey: The running back played 14 games over two seasons with the Rams, tallying 813 yards on 217 carries. He scored 11 total touchdowns as a Ram after transferring to CSU from Boston College.
D'Andre Greeley: The 5-foot-10 defensive back did not appear in any games in his one (2022) season at CSU. Greeley will transfer to Buffalo.
Tavian Brown: The 6-foot linebacker in three seasons for the Rams appeared in 22 games and made 31 tackles. Brown will transfer to Georgia State.
Alex Berrouet: The 5-foot-11 running back had seven carries for 50 yards in his CSU career in one game played. Berrouet didn't appear in any games this season. Berrouet will transfer to Maine.
E.J. Scott: The 6-foot-1 receiver finished his CSU career with 42 catches for 524 yards and a touchdown
Angel King: The defensive back left CSU midseason in 2022 after transferring from Nevada prior to the season. He battled injuries in his time as a Ram.
Ches Jackson: The 6-foot-4 offensive lineman appeared in 25 career games for the Rams. Jackson will transfer to Ohio.
Bam Amina: The linebacker had 31 tackles in two seasons at CSU.
The COVID year
CSU honored 17 seniors at the end of the 2022 season, but nine of them had an option of another year if they chose due to the NCAA's granting of an extra season for those who played in the COVID 2020 season. We'll update here as those announcements are made.
