Colts claim OT Luke Tenuta, lose LB Sterling Weatherford to Chicago

The Colts have claimed rookie offensive tackle Luke Tenuta on waivers from the Buffalo Bills, a move that adds another inexperienced player to a young group of offensive linemen behind the starting five.

Indianapolis released cornerback Tony Brown to make room for Tenuta.

Tenuta, a 6-8, 319-pounder out of West Virginia, was drafted by Buffalo in the sixth round, then waived in the NFL’s roster reduction to 53 players. Indianapolis likes height at the tackle position, and Tenuta has plenty of it.

Indianapolis found itself on the other end of the waiver wire, though. The Colts lost linebacker Sterling Weatherford, an undrafted free agent and local product who played his high school football at Hamilton Heights, to the Chicago Bears, who claimed six players.

Weatherford led Indianapolis with 22 tackles during the preseason, and he added two passes defended and an interception.
