Colts to hire former tight ends coach Tom Manning back to staff, per report
Shane Steichen is making some moves to shape his offensive staff.
The Colts are hiring their former tight ends coach, Tom Manning, back to the staff, Justin Williams of the Athletic reported. Manning coached the Colts tight ends in 2018.
Manning, 39, joined the University of Cincinnati's staff this spring to be their offensive coordinator under new coach Scott Satterfield. Now, he'll leave without coaching a game with the Bearcats.

Manning spent the previous four seasons as Iowa State's offensive coordinator, where he helped develop Jets running back Breece Hall and 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy. He took that job after just one season as the Colts tight ends coach in 2018, his only season of NFL experience.
But it was a strong year, as the Colts signed Eric Ebron and then enjoyed a breakout season, as the former first-round pick racked up 13 touchdowns to reach his only Pro Bowl. The Colts finished 10-6 and won a playoff game over the Texans in Andrew Luck's final season.
It's unclear what Manning's specific role will be under Steichen, though it appears likely to coach tight ends. Indianapolis hired Jim Bob Cooter as its offensive coordinator on Monday as well.
If Manning works with the tight ends again, he'll reunite with Mo Alie-Cox, who was a rookie during his last stint. The rest of the group is young but athletic, with Kylen Granson entering his third season and Jelani Woods and Drew Ogletree coming off rookie years.
Manning is the second reported hire Steichen has made so far. He also hired Giants running backs coach DeAndre Smith, the New York Daily News reported.
