Colts likely to face 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo in Week 7

The Indianapolis Colts have begun their prep for the Week 7 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers, and it seems that will involve prepping for Jimmy Garoppolo to be the starting quarterback.
After suffering a calf injury midway through their Week 4 game against the Seattle Seahawks, Garoppolo missed the rest of that matchup and the subsequent game against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 5. The Niners had a bye in Week 6.
That said, it appears all signs are pointing to Jimmy GQ returning for the prime-time matchup against the Colts. Here’s what Kyle Madson of Niners Wire said about the likelihood of that happening.
“The 49ers on Monday had a bonus practice where players return from their week away to go through a session where they re-acclimate to the rigors of an NFL week of preparation. Garoppolo was on hand for that session per reporters on site. That’s a good clue that he’s on track to return.
Another clue came in the form of something the 49ers didn’t do. They never brought in an additional quarterback despite the likelihood they’ll be without rookie quarterback Trey Lance in Week 7 because of a knee sprain. If neither he nor Garoppolo are available, Nate Sudfeld would get the start under center.”
Madson went on to also that had had there been any questions about Garoppolo’s availability coming out of the bye week, the team likely would have made some sort of move at the position.
It seems the Colts won’t have to prepare for electric rookie Trey Lance, who suffered a knee sprain during his first career start in Week 5.
The Colts defense has been hit or miss this season. They’ve been improving over the majority of the last three games (outside of the late-game collapse to the Ravens), but two of those games came against offenses being led by Jacoby Brissett and Davis Mills.
It would be wise to pay attention to the injury reports this week, but it seems that all signs point to Garoppolo being the starter against Indy in Week 7.
