Colts receiver T.Y. Hilton honored with banner at Lucas Oil Stadium

No one has made an announcement, and you never know how injuries can change the situation, but there's a large indication that T.Y. Hilton's playing days are done, at least with the Colts.

A "thanks for the memories" banner featuring The Ghost is hanging at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Hilton, who will soon be 33, has played 10 seasons for the Indianapolis Colts after being a third-round NFL Draft pick in 2012. He has 631 receptions for 9,691 yards and 53 touchdowns, and he led the league 1,448 receiving yards in 2016. He earned four Pro Bowl berths.

He appeared in 10 games last season, with a career-low 23 catches and 3 touchdowns.

Colts general manager Chris Ballard said in April as the NFL Draft approached that he kept in contact with Hilton.

“We’ll still have some talks with T.Y.,” Ballard said. “I think you all know my feelings toward T.Y. Hilton, and I think he can still play.”

Soon after last season, Hilton said he wanted to talk with tight end Jack Doyle about future. Doyle retired.

“I’m just going to talk to him, see what he’s feeling,” Hilton said. “Once he makes his decision, then I’ll know what I want to do. It’s kind of based on him, but whether it’s here or somewhere else, I’ll make my decision sometime in the offseason.”

The Colts selected receiver Alec Pierce in the second round of this year's NFL Draft. He is concussion protocol after taking a hard hit in Week 1.

If Hilton's playing days are over, he can enjoy his son Eugene, a Zionsville sophomore receiver who is already making spectacular plays.
