Colts vs. Giants betting odds, picks, predictions for NFL Week 17

Every New York Giants win this season has been by 8 points or less. They have suffered three blowout losses and have a tie.

It hardly seems like the Indianapolis Colts can rout the Giants (maybe for one half, but not a full game), but can they keep it close?

The Colts enter this matchup having not scored an offensive touchdown in 118 minutes, 48 seconds of game time. Deon Jackson scored on a 1-yard run against the Vikings with 3:51 left in the first quarter. Their only touchdown since is on a Julian Blackmon interception return. Chase McLaughlin has five field goals over that period.

The Giants (8-6-1, 2-4-1 in November and December) are 5.5-point favorites for Sunday's NFL Week 17 matchup, according to Draft Kings. The over/under is 39 overall points.

Look toward the future: If Chris Ballard's coming back, the Colts have issues to address

The Colts (4-10-1, 5-game losing streak) are 6-9 against the spread and have failed to cover 3 of their past 4 games. Five Colts games have gone over and 10 under.

New York is 11-4 ATS and has covered 4 of the past 5. Six Giants games have gone over, 8 under and 1 was a push.

A Giants victory puts them in the NFC playoffs, while the Colts sit at No. 5 in the 2023 NFL Draft order. ESPN's matchup simulator gives the Giants a 78.3% chance at victory, while FiveThirtyEight gives New York a 63% chance.

Pete Prisco, CBS Sports: Giants 28-13

The Giants need one victory to make the playoffs, and this is their best chance against a bad Colts team playing on a short week. The Colts got nothing out of Nick Foles at quarterback, which shouldn't give them much hope here. The Giants will win it and go to the playoffs behind a good defensive effort.

Gary Davenport, Bleacher Report: Giants 26-17

The Giants aren't a team that rolls up the score. Their next double-digit win will be their first of 2022. So, while it's possible (I guess) that (Nick) Foles is just terrible, this is also a game with the potential for the Colts to hang around before Folesing (like waltzing, only with more falling down) through the backdoor late.

Bill Bender, Sporting News: Giants 27-21

The Giants are still in the playoff hunt, and they beat the other three AFC South teams by an average of five points per game. Saquon Barkley averaged 5.3 yards per carry the last two weeks, and he should have a nice game against a Colts' defense coming off a short week. New York clinches a playoff spot under first-year coach Brian Daboll in the process.

Dalton Miller, Pro Football Network: Giants 22-16

The Indianapolis Colts’ decision to start Nick Foles did not go well. The Colts’ offense did not magically turn into a juggernaut overnight, and their defense was unable to consistently get stops against the Chargers’ offense, who methodically put together three 12-plus-play drives throughout the contest (mostly because it’s impossible for them to make explosive plays). The Colts have now lost five consecutive games after Jeff Saturday’s debut.

The Giants haven’t had their best run recently either, but at 8-6-1 are still battling for a spot in the NFL playoffs. After losing a hard-fought game against the Minnesota Vikings, and currently just a win away from clinching a playoff berth, they definitely want to do so in Week 17 and not have to beat the two-loss Eagles in Week 18 to get in.

Mike Florio, Pro Football Talk: Giants 24-7

The Greatest Game Ever Played doesn’t have to worry about this reunion threatening its status.

Gregg Rosenthal, NFL.com: Giants 27-23

The Giants have gotten this far by narrowly beating bad teams. Daniel Jones is playing near-mistake-free football, with Darius Slayton and Isaiah Hodgins developing into a legitimate starting duo. The Colts' defensive linemen, however, should win their matchups. Nick Foles can’t be as bad as he looked last week, and it’s only appropriate that Giants fans sweat it out one last time before celebrating a return to the tournament.

Gerry Dulac, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: Giants 24-16

The Giants have just one win in their past six starts, but they somehow still have control of a wild card playoff spot. Since winning his first game as a much-criticized interim replacement for Frank Reich, Jeff Saturday has had a lot of lousy Sundays, losing five in a row.

Sheil Kapadia, The Ringer: Colts cover the spread

The Giants are the better team, but this number is just a little too high for a team that is short on talent in so many key spots.
