We're not to the mid point of the NFL season, but this matchup between the Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans carries unusual importance.

Indianapolis is almost out of opportunities to gain an edge on AFC South opponents. Though the Colts (3-2-1) would be in the playoffs if the season ended before Sunday, they're just 1-2-1 against division opponents.

According to the New York Times, if the Colts win Sunday, they have a 73% chance of making the AFC playoffs. If they lose, those chances drop to 47%.

Tennessee (3-2), which beat the Colts 24-17 in Week 4, would have a 69% chance of making the playoffs with a win, 44% with a loss. A win would also give the Titans a tiebreaker edge over the Colts. They have won three straight and are coming off their bye week.

The Titans ran to an early 21-point lead in Week 4 and held off two Indianapolis threats in the fourth quarter (fumble recovery, missed field goal).

Tennessee won last year's game in Nashville, but the Colts won the previous three there.
