Columbia Daily Tribune takes home honors from Missouri Press Association
The Columbia Daily Tribune took home a handful of awards in the Missouri Press Association's Better Newspaper contest.
The Tribune is in Class 2 and 3 for the Missouri Press Association's contest, which is designated for daily newspapers with a circulation between 5,001 and 15,000 per day. This competes with other daily newspapers in Missouri like the Kansas City Star and the Springfield News-Leader, as well as newsrooms like the Missouri Independent.
As a staff, the Tribune took second place in the Best Online Newspaper or Website category in Class 2.
Tribune photographer Madeline Carter earned a top honor in the Best Photo Package category in Classes 2 and 3. She took first place for her work covering the wildfire that ravaged the town of Wooldridge in October 2022.

Carter also took home a second-place honor for Best Sports Feature Photograph in Classes 2 and 3, where she made an image of former Missouri Tigers defensive back Justin Efebera prior to a college football game between MU and the Arkansas Razorbacks.
The Tribune's sports section also took home two honors.
Former Missouri beat reporter Matt Stahl took home a third-place honor in the Best Sports News Story or Package category in Class 2 on Missouri fans reveling in the Tigers' rivalry with Kansas returning to Columbia.
Sports Editor Chris Kwiecinski took a third-place honor in the Best Sports Columnist category in Class 2 for a collection of sports columns.
