Several Houston County roads closed due to flood damage

DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) — Multiple roads in Houston County were damaged and closed after flash floods Monday morning.

Damaged and closed roads in Houston County:

  • Hodgesville Road (Southern Houston County between Hooper Cherry Road and Flournoy Moore Road)

  • Prevatt Road (Eastern Houston County between Avon Road and Battles Road)

  • Jack Bruner (Eastern Houston County between Edsel Deese Road and North County Road 33)

  • New Hope Road (Southern Houston County between Atwell Road and Highway 109)

  • Eddins Road (Southern Houston County between Lucy Grade Road and Stillwater Court)

  • Old Webb Road (Eastern Houston County between Jimbo Rd and Otis Buie Road)

  • Pansey Road (Eastern Houston County between County Road 75 and Pleasant Grove Road)

  • Battles Road (Eastern Houston County between Avon Road and Christmas Road)

  • Sigma Pit Road (Northeastern Houston County between JD Love Road and Benton Store Road)

  • King Road (Eastern Houston County between County Road 33 and Hollis Meadows Road)

  • Ludlum Road (Eastern Houston County between Highway 52 and Glen Lawrence Road)

  • Lamp Brother Road (Eastern Houston County between County Road 95 and East Cook Road)

  • Cephus Rollins Road (Eastern Houston County between County Road 33 and Highway 52)

  • Cureton Road (Southern Houston County between Harper Joy Road and County Road 33)

  • Ebenezer Road (Eastern Houston County between Hudson Road and Jesse Road)

  • *These roads are closed to thru traffic until further notice

Houston County officials tell WDHN that all dirt roads across the county are closed to thru traffic, and only residents who live on the dangerous roads should attempt to traverse them.

It is unknown when the dirt roads will be reopened.


Columbia Highway leading to Webb was closed for nearly seven hours on Monday after the road flooded at mile marker 68. The road reopened at around 2:50 p.m.

Houston County EMA Director Mark Powell tells WDHN that crews have been confirming road damage and closures for hours.

A CSX train stopped in Webb after parts of the track were submerged and gravel was washed out from under the tracks.
