Columbia Lions raising money for Camp Rising Sun

Oct. 7—COLUMBIA — The Columbia Lions Club will host a pasta and meatball dinner on Saturday.

The dinner will take place from 4: 30 p. m. to 7: 30 p. m. at the Beckish Senior Center, 188 Route 66 in Columbia.

Advanced tickets for the event are $ 12 for adults and $35 for a family of four. Tickets for children under the age of 12 are $ 6.

Ticket prices for families and adults are $ 2 extra if purchased at the event.

100 percent of the dinner's proceeds will go to the Camp Rising Sun Foundation.

The Camp Rising Sun Foundation is the charitable arm for Camp Rising Sun. This is a camp open to children ages five to 17 who have had cancer or are currently being treated for it.

The camp is held in Colebrook at the facilities of Camp Jewell YMCA.

Connecticut Lions Clubs have supported Camp Rising Sun for 36 years and have donated more than $ 500,000 to the camp.

Columbia Lions Club member Robert Fowler said that last year's pasta and meatball dinner raised approximately $ 12,000. The club has held the event for more than 10 years.

The Columbia Lions Club hopes the public will support this year's event.

"Please help us to continue to support this important program for children with cancer," the club announced. For tickets and event information contact Fowler ( 860- 614- 8585) or Columbia Lions Club President Mike DiRaimo (860-228-8241).
