Columbiana 'Joy of Christmas' to be lit Friday

Columbiana Area Tourism Bureau is set to light its Joy of Christmas Light Show 2023 at an event that will run 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Harvey S. Firestone Recreational Park, 298 E. Park Ave. in Columbiana.

The lighting ceremony is just a part of the holiday event's 15th annual run that will continue through Dec. 24.

Lights will be on only select nights in until Nov. 30. The display will be lit from 6 to 9 p.m. Nov. 17-19 and Nov. 23-26 before it is lit every night from Nov. 30-Dec. 24.

Entry fees are $20 per vehicle, and season passes are available for $40. Season passes can be purchased at the Columbiana Area Tourism Bureau office at 11 N. Main St., Columbiana OH 44408.

Food and other treats are available for a separate charge.

The display is just part of a series of displays and events themed to the holiday season.

Happening only the opening weekend are a visit from Ice Queen and the Princess in Santa’s Ice Castle. The merry old elf will not be available until Nov. 23.

Happening Saturday is a Hay Ride + Petting Zoo. Cost for the one-night-only event is $5 per participant for the hayride.

Other upcoming events are:

Dec. 5 – T'was the Night Before 5K. Register at secondsoletiming.com. During the event, the Joy of Christmas Light Show will be closed to the public.

Dec. 6 –Santa’s Special Night. A by-appointment-only evening for individuals living with special needs. Register athttps://bit.ly/SantasSpecialNight2023JOC.

Sunday nights are First Responder & Senior Nights, with $10 admission for first responders, veterans and adults ages 65 and older.

Thursdays and Sundays throughout the event is the Gingerbread House display. Check out the display and visit with Mrs. Claus. The last night for Mrs. Claus is Dec. 21. This year, guests will enjoy the added feature of professional gingerbread designs by the following local bakeries Bake Me Treats, SalemDas Dutch Haus Bakery and Kim’s Confections.
