Columbus-based bubble tea chain coming to Gahanna

GAHANNA, Ohio (WCMH) – A Columbus-based bubble tea chain is coming to Gahanna.

A Bubbles Tea and Juice Company will open in Gahanna’s Creekside District at 121 Mill St. The Bubbles storefront will be owned and operated by Darrel and Alexandria Grumman. Bubbles in Gahanna is one of the first franchise-owned locations for the company.

“Our goal is to be a family-oriented operation, like a place for everyone to come and feel welcome and hang out and have some good treats,” Alexandria said.

Bubbles offers a variety of smoothies, bubble teas, cold-pressed juices and acai bowls. The Gahanna shop will carry everything on Bubbles’ traditional menu; “Boozy Bubbles,” which are offered at select locations, will not be available.

The Grummans said they have plans to bring more Bubbles locations to central Ohio, or as they like to say, “bring Bubbles to the ‘burbs.”

“We get a lot of feedback that [people] love the drinks, they want to get their kids or themselves a bubble tea, but they don’t want to go into a mall to get it necessarily and so how convenient would it be to have it in our neighborhood,” Darrel said. “So that’s kind of been our goal, is to get it closer to the people.”

Bubbles opened its first location in the North Market in 2005. Since then, the company has spread with 12 locations across Ohio, and three more on the way. Among its storefronts are locations in Tuttle Crossing Mall, Polaris Fashion Place, Easton Town Center, and Ohio State’s campus.

Bubbles in Gahanna will open with a ribbon-cutting ceremony sometime in April, according to the Grummans. Updates on an opening date can be found on their Facebook page.
