Columbus-based grill maker W.C. Bradley Co. expands by acquiring competing business

Columbus-based W.C. Bradley Co. announced Thursday that it has acquired the global consumer goods company Dansons US LLC.

The acquisition adds to W.C. Bradley’s portfolio of outdoor consumer products, according to a news release.

Dansons is a family-owned and operated company that is managed by Dan, Jeff and Jordan Thiessen. It’s headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona, and was founded in Canada in 1999.

The company’s brands include Pit Boss, Louisiana Grills and the gun safe manufacturer Surelock.

Founded in Columbus in 1885, W.C. Bradley began as a “cotton-factoring” business. The company is privately owned by the Bradley family and now focuses on grills, smokers and outdoor supplies.

The company’s brands include Char-Broil, Oklahoma Joe’s smokers, SABER grills and Lamplight, which manufactures TIKI Brand products.

The agreement brings together iconic brands, and the companies’ combined innovation will create value for consumers and stakeholders, the news release said.

“We are excited to partner with the Dansons’ team,” said James Hillenbrand, CEO of W.C. Bradley Co. “This combination is a natural fit of strong cultures, brands and partners.”
