Columbus, Central Ohio school closings and delays due to winter weather advisory

With a wind chill advisory in effect until 10 p.m. Wednesday, several area schools across Central Ohio canceled or delayed classes for Tuesday.

The closings and cancelations come after The National Weather Service in Wilmington issued a sweeping hazardous-weather outlook for the region.

Hayes High School dismisses due to lack of heat

Delaware City Schools announced Tuesday morning that Hayes High School would dismiss classes at 10:10 Tuesday due to a lack of heat in the building. The district stressed that the closure only applies to the high schools and that all other schools in the district would remain in session throughout the day.

  • Athens City Schools (Athens County) – closed

  • Berne Union Schools (Fairfield County) – closed

  • Buckeye Central (Crawford County) – two-hour delay

  • Bucyrus City (Crawford County) – two-hour delay

  • Crestline Exempted Village School District (Crawford County) – two-hour delay

  • Eastern Local School District (Pike County) – closed

  • Elgin Local Schools (Marion County) – two-hour delay

  • Fairbanks Local School District (Union County) – two-hour delay

  • Fairway School (Crawford County) – one-hour delay

  • Hardin Northern Local District (Hardin County) – two-hour delay

  • Highland Local Schools (Morrow County) – two-hour delay

  • Indian Lake Local School District (Logan County) – two-hour delay

  • Jonathan Alder Schools (Madison County) – two-hour delay

  • London City Schools (Madison County ) – two-hour delay

  • Madison Plains Local (Madison County) – two-hour delay
