Columbus City Council cancels Monday night meeting due to COVID-19 exposures
The Columbus City Council has canceled the regularly scheduled meeting for Monday evening "as a result of members following quarantine guidance relating to COVID-19 exposure," it said in a news release.
The council statement said it was conflicted because the state of Ohio requires public meetings to be in-person, but that its members attending an in-person meeting would violate public health guidelines. The statement did not provide details about who was exposed or where.

"Some Council Members were exposed to positive COVID-19 cases and are following federal guidance by quarantining," Council President Shannon G. Hardin said in the written statement. "The best defense against catching COVID-19 continues to be wearing a mask around others and social distancing, and I encourage all Columbus residents who aren't vaccinated to get their shots and booster as soon as possible."
The next regularly scheduled Council meeting will be January 31, 2022.
