Columbus Clippers shut out Syracuse Mets 5-0 for fourth straight win

Daniel Johnson hit a three-run homer and Gavin Collins and Jose Fermin hit solo shots as the Clippers defeated the Syracuse Mets 5-0 Wednesday for their fifth consecutive win.

The victory also was the second straight 5-0 shutout of the Mets.

Adam Scott (1-0) pitched five shutout innings for the Clippers. He struck out five and faced the minimum number of batters.

The Clippers jumped to a 1-0 lead on Fermin's homer in the third. Collins homered in the fifth. In the sixth, Josh Naylor walked and moved to second on a single by Oscar Gonzalez before Johnson's homer.

Of note: Naylor, on a rehab assignment from the Guardians, was 0 for 3 and his batting .200.
