Columbus Grove 6, Lima Central Catholic 2

COLUMBUS GROVE — Columbus Grove's Abby Stechschulte went 2 for 4 with with 2 RBI and a run scored and Kam Utendorf was 3 for 4 with two runs scored. For LCC, Jaylen Roehm was 2 for 4 with a run scored and Kyla Badea was 2 for 4 with an RBI.

Elida 14, Lima Senior 1

Elida pitcher Leah Ramirez fired a two-hitter, complete game while striking out six and walking two. At the plate Audrey Hendrick as 2 for 2 with 2 runs and an RBI and Lacie Moening had a triple and scored twice. Kylie Biglow scored twice and drove in a run and Paige Durham went 2 for 2 with 2 RBI and a run scored. For Lima Senior, Ti'ana Spivey and Els Nelson had hits.

Leipsic 14, Delphos Jefferson 2

LEIPSIC — Leipsic pitcher Jocelyn Hermiller pitched five innings, scattered four hits while striking out nine and walking one. At the plate Marisa Hermiller went 3 for 4 with a double, triple, 4 RBI and two runs scored. Ava Henry was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI and a run scored. Jocelyn Hermiller was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI and two runs scored and Samantha Hazelton was 1 for 3 with two runs scored and an RBI. Krysten Martinez was 1 for 2 with two runs and an RBI. For Jefferson, Lillian Baughn and Emma Kunz drove in runs and Hannah Joseph was 2 for 2 with a run scored.

Bluffton 23, Spencerville 4

BLUFFTON — Bluffton's Hannah Davis was 3 for 3 with two doubles and 3 RBI and Oliva Hobensack was 4 for 5 with two doubles and an RBI. Lauren Swartzlander was 4 for 5 with two doubles and four RBI and Addie Businger was 3 for 5 with a double and 5 RBI. Lauren Bassett was 2 for 4 with 4 RBI and Riley Busch and Shley Fleece each drove in two runs. For Spencerville, Maddy Layman was 2 for 3 with an RBI and Kelsey Lee and Evelyn Meyer each drove in runs.

Marion Local 9, New Bremen 1

NEW BREMEN — Marion Local's Allison Dirksen had two doubles and 5 RBI and Olivia Demange was 1 for 3 with two runs scored and an RBI. Paige Bruggeman was 2 for 3. Camryn Swain was 3 for 3 with an RBI and two runs scored. For New Bremen, Alivia Dammyere was 3 for 3 and Lauren Homan drove in a run.

Ridgemont 9, Perry 2

PERRY TOWNSHIP — For Perry, Isabella Anderson and Kennedy Essex drove in runs and Makenna Dray was 2 for 3 with two runs scored.

Minster 8, Fort Recovery 2

FORT RECOVERY — Minster's Lyndi Hemmelgarn was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 RBI and two runs scored and Addi Inskeep was 2 for 4. Haile Albers was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI and two runs scored and Emma Goubeaux was 2 for 4 with a home run, two runs scored and an RBI. For Fort Recovery, Sophie Pearson was 2 for 3 with an RBI and Kensey Gaerke was 2 for 3 with with an RBI.

CELINA —Celina pitcher Zander Jones picked up the win, going three innings, giving up no hits while walking one and fanning five. At the plate, Dlyan Feister was 2 for 3 with two runs and Jones was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI. Jack Hassan was 2 for 3 with 3 RBI and max Baumstark was 2 for 2 with 3 runs and a walk.

Lincolnview 10, Allen East 0

MIDDLE POINT — Lincolnview hurler Landon Price fired a one-hit shutout while striking out 10 in five innings. At the plate, Price went 2 for 4 with an RBI and two runs scored and Cole Binkley was 3 for 4 with 3 RBI and two runs scored. Dane Ebel drove in two runs and Caden Hanf and Bradnon Renner both drove in runs.

Ottawa-Glandorf 10, Miller City 3

OTTAWA — Ottawa-Glandorf's Alex Macke was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI and two runs scored and Carter Schimmoeller was 3 for 4 with a run scored. Kaleb Yoder went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI.

Crestview 12, Ada 2

CONVOY — Crestvie pitchers Bryson Penix and Parker Speith combined for a five hitter. Penix struck out five in four innings and Speith struck out three in two innings of work. At the plate, Carson Hunter was 2 for 3 with a home run, 5 RBI and two runs scored. Ayden Lichtenstieger was 1 for 2 with three runs and 3 RBI. Penix drove in a run and scored a run.

Coldwater 18, Parkway 2

ROCKFORD — Coldwater's Reece Dellinger went 4 for 4 with a double, a run and 7 RBI and Evan Harlamert went 2 for 2 with three runs and 2 RBI. Rece Mescher drove in two runs and Adam Hrycko and Josh Kaup each scored twice. AJ Harlamert drove in two and scored four runs. For Parkway, Bryce Stearns was 2 for 3 and Jackson Kraner drove in two runs.

St. Henry 9, New Knoxville 1

NEW KNOXVILLE — St. Henry's Shane Franck went 4 for 5 with three runs scored and Seth Heitkamp was 1 for 2 with a double, 2 RBI and a run scored. Nolan Kunkler and Clayton Everman drove in runs. For New Knoxville, Jay Wterman was 2 for 2 and Preston Ruschilling drove in a run.

Lima Central Catholic 5, Lima Senior 0

Lima Central Catholic got singles wins from Max Gaumier, Simon Pajotin and Austin Craig and doubles wins from the team of Drew Hubbard and Brayden Hubbard and the pair of Brady Feison and Nate Niemeyer.

St. Marys 5, Kenton 0

KENTON — St. Marys got singles wins from Joey Vanderhorst, Aristide Brasille and Conner Milner and doubles wins from duo of Rhett Chisolm and Isaac Wibbeler and the pair of Cody Birth and Jaxson Spees.

Girls Basketball

LCC hires girls hoops coach

Eric Kuhlman has been hired as the Lima Central Catholic's girls varsity head basketball coach.Kuhlman has been a part of LCC for the past 12 years as a teacher. He served as an assistant boys basketball coach under Frank Kill for nine seasons, and was a junior varsity coach for four years at Graham High School in North Carolina.

ONU splits

ADA — Senior Stacey Walters (Sunbury/Big Walnut) and sophomore Kaylie Griffin (Grafton/Elyria Catholic) led the Ohio Northern softball team in a doubleheader split with Wooster on Thursday at the ONU Softball Field.

The Polar Bears (17-9 overall) won 6-1 in the opener, and the Fighting Scots (17-19 overall) took Game 2 by a score of 4-2.

ONU clinched its ninth straight winning season with the Game 1 victory.

Wooster pitcher Daphne Pate held the ONU offense in check in Game 2, allowing seven hits while walking none and striking out two as she outdueled Northern sophomore Alex Daum (Wapakoneta).

Daum allowed seven hits while walking none and striking out four.

Baseball

ONU 8, Bluffton 4

BLUFFTON — Senior Corey McMann (Flower Mound, Tex./Liberty Christian) tallied three hits and three RBIs to lead the Ohio Northern baseball team to an 8-4 victory on Thursday at Memorial Field.

The Polar Bears improve to 16-18 on the season while the Beavers fall to 16-19.

One of McMann's three hits on the day was a 2-RBI double that gave Northern an early lead in the top of the first inning after sophomore Dakota Durick (New Castle, Ind.) was hit by a pitch and advanced to second on a single from sophomore Logan Stevens (Plain City/Jonathan Alder).

Hutchins is now 3-1 on the season.
