Columbus police homicide detectives are investigating the death of a man who succumbed on Saturday to gunshot wounds he sought treatment for nearly two weeks prior when he walked into OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital.

Travis Rush, 46, had been reportedly expected to survive his injuries when he first walked into the North Side hospital on March 25, police said. But 13 days later, police now say he has died.

Police were dispatched to the hospital at 12:16 a.m. that March morning when the hospital reported that a man had come in with gunshot wounds. According to police, Rush's girlfriend said the pair were in their vehicle in the parking lot of a Family Dollar store at 1499 Oakland Park Ave. on the Northeast Side when they heard a loud bang and realized Rush had been shot.

No suspects have been named in Rush's death.

Anyone with information can call the Columbus police homicide unit at 614-645-4730 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-8477.
