Columbus man who fatally shot teen fleeing stolen Jeep on foot gets 21½ to 27 years.

Guy A. Andonian, 77, formerly of Columbus and now of North Carolina, is accused in an indictment of stealing more than $35,000 from VFW Post 4044 on Eakin Road between 2017 and 2019 through a check scheme.

A Columbus man who pursued the 15-year-old driving his brother's stolen Jeep and fatally shot the teen as he fled the vehicle on foot was sentenced Thursday to more than two decades in prison.

The shooting occurred around 11 p.m. on Oct. 8, 2020, as Nofeir Cannon was running away on foot from the stolen vehicle in Mifflin Township. Isaiah Tucker, then 18, fired multiple rounds at Cannon, according to Franklin County Sheriff's Office detectives, striking Cannon in the head. Cannon died in an alley off Loretta Avenue.

Tucker, of Columbus' Northeast Side, pleaded guilty on Thursday in Franklin County Common Pleas Court to voluntary manslaughter, tampering with evidence and improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle under a plea agreement with county prosecutors. In exchange, prosecutors dropped charges of aggravated murder and murder.

Common Pleas Court Judge Kim Brown immediately sentenced Tucker, now 21, to an indefinite prison term of 21½ years to 27 years.

Robert Krapenc, Tucker's attorney, told The Dispatch that Tucker was very young at the time of the shooting and regrets his actions.

Through Krapenc, Tucker apologized to Cannon's family and his own family in court.

Cannon was "just a baby" when he was killed, his mother, LaTonya Nichols, said during the sentencing hearing.

Brothers went after vehicle thief

According to sheriff's detectives, Keyshawn Tucker's vehicle was stolen around 10:30 p.m. that day from outside a carryout in Mifflin Township.

Keyshawn Tucker and his younger brother, Isaiah Tucker, believed they knew who stole the car. Isaiah Tucker and his girlfriend drove Keyshawn Tucker to their suspect's home in the area of Loretta and Rankin Avenues in Mifflin Township.

Isaiah Tucker dropped off his brother, Keyshawn Tucker. While driving around, Isaiah Tucker saw the stolen vehicle and pursued it on Rankin Avenue.

Eventually, Cannon got out of the car and ran. Court records state a witness saw Isaiah Tucker pull out a gun and fire more than 10 rounds at Cannon from inside his vehicle.

Assistant Franklin County Prosecutor Dan Cable said authorities don't know for sure who stole the Jeep, but Cannon was the only one in the vehicle when Isaiah Tucker found him.

According to a witness, Keyshawn Tucker told his brother before the shooting not to do anything stupid, Cable said.

Isaiah Tucker sold the gun he used in the fatal shooting on the streets afterward, according to Cable.
