Detectives are investigating three separate Columbus-area homicides which occurred in less than nine hours Sunday, including one in a school parking lot and another near a restaurant that recently shut down due to gun violence.

Around 4:50 a.m. Sunday, Columbus police were called to the Columbus Square Shopping Center, located in the 5700 block of Cleveland Avenue on the city's Northeast Side.

Fidel Corral, 42, of the Franklinton area, was found shot in the parking lot of the shopping center, police said. He was taken to OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital, where he died at 7:06 a.m. Sunday, police said.

Columbus police SWAT officers were called to the scene to clear out Sunset Palace Banquet Hall at the shopping center.

Police have not released any further information about the shooting, including any motive or possible suspects.

The shooting took place across the street from a now-closed Rooster's restaurant that was the site of two shootings this year, one a homicide in February and one in April in which a waitress was wounded when multiple gun shots were fired through a front window.
