Around 4:50 a.m. Sunday, Columbus police were called to the Columbus Square Shopping Center, located in the 5700 block of Cleveland Avenue on the city's Northeast Side.

Fidel Corral, 42, of the Franklinton area, was found shot in the parking lot of the shopping center, police said. He was taken to OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital, where he died at 7:06 a.m. Sunday, police said.

Police have not released any further information about the shooting, including any motive or possible suspects.

The shooting took place across the street from a now-closed Rooster's restaurant that was the site of two shootings this year, one a homicide in February and one in April in which a waitress was wounded when multiple gun shots were fired through a front window.
