Columbus Short North's Service Bar reopening, with Chris Connolly as executive chef

Middle West Spirits is reopening Service Bar on Oct 13 after installing Chris Connolly as the new executive chef.

Service Bar, inside the distillery at 1230 Courtland Ave. in Columbus' Short North area, has been closed since June 2021, when it paused service to make way for renovations and assemble a new kitchen team for this fall’s reopening, according to a Sept. 30 news release.

Connolly's résumé incudes acclaimed Alinea in Chicago and The Inn at Little Washington in Virginia, both having received three Michelin Guide stars.

Ryan Long, cofounder and CEO of Middle West Spirits, said in the release that Connolly's "contemporary, ingredient-driven menu is rooted in classic techniques."

Aishar Barua, Service Bar's former executive chef, critically praised in his own right, went onto open his own restaurant, Joya's, in Worthington.
