Sheridan Hendrix is known around Columbus as The Dispatch’s higher education reporter.

But, Hendrix, 26, will share a piece of her personal life with others when she takes the stage at 7 p.m., June 15, at the Columbus Athenaeum as one of four performers speaking about their neighbors for the Columbus Storytellers Project.

The event is sponsored by The Columbus Dispatch. Hendrix’s story, titled “Pandemic-forged friendships,” was inspired by the early days of the pandemic when she and her new husband found themselves alone and stuck at home.

“After two years of chaos, I think it's important that we reflect on what got us through the dark times and what good we can carry with us into the future,” she said.

Hendrix hopes people take away the message that it’s important to lean on the people who are close to you, including those who might be right next door. Everyone needs human connection and Hendrix said people should embrace those who want to be there for them.

“We all need community, even in the smallest sense, to survive,” she said.
