The summer is beginning, which means people will be getting out more and more.
A good way to enjoy the sun and socialize is by going to sporting events. Fortunately, there are plenty of events to attend this summer, from the Columbus Clippers and Columbus Crew games to the Memorial Tournament, community events and much more.

Columbus Clippers
Huntington Park, 330 Huntington Park Lane in the Arena District
• The Clippers season is well underway, beginning in early April, but there are some home series you won’t want to miss.
On July 4, the Clippers will host the Nashville Sounds for Fireworks Day. Beyond the Independence Day tradition, the Clippers will also host the Toledo Mud Hens in a series from Aug. 16-21, with the Clippers wearing special Marvel-themed uniforms and auctioning them off throughout the game. And fans won't want to miss a special appearance from Spider-Man, who will be on the concourse throughout the game and then stick around for a post-game Marvel-themed fireworks show.

Memorial Tournament
Muirfield Village Golf Club, 5750 Memorial Drive, Dublin
• Founded and hosted by Columbus native Jack Nicklaus, the Memorial Tournament is one of the most well-known tournaments on the PGA Tour. An invite-only tournament, the course will feature 120 of the best golfers in the world from May 30 to June 5.

• The Crew is nearing the midway point of its schedule, but there are plenty of high-profile games left to see. On July 3, the Crew will host the first-place Philadelphia Union and have fireworks after the game for Independence Day.

Ohio High School Athletic Association state track championships
Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium, 2450 Fred Taylor Drive
• The OHSAA state track championships are coming back to Columbus on June 3-4. Teams from around the state will arrive at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium to showcase their talents and compete for title as the best track athletes in the state.

Gettin' festive: From Pride to the fair and Red, White and Boom, festival season packed with favorites
Ohio High School Athletic Association boys and girls lacrosse championships
Historic Crew Stadium, One Black and Gold Blvd.
• The boys and girls state lacrosse championships will be back on June 4. Played at Historic Crew Stadium, OHSAA will crown teams from around the state at the same time as the track meet going on at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.

WWE Smackdown
Schottenstein Center, West Lane Avenue and Olentangy River Road
• The WWE is coming is coming back to Columbus on June 3 for Friday Night Smackdown after bringing Monday Night Raw to town on Feb. 28. Wrestlers scheduled to make an appearance are Ronda Rousey, Drew McIntyre and others. The event is known to bring in a lot of excitement, hard-hitting body slams and loads of trash talk for those in attendance.

Inaugural NASCAR Camping World Truck Series
Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, 7721 Steam Corners Road, Lexington
• Set for July 8-9, the 67-lap race will cover 151 miles and be called the O’Reilly Auto Parts 150 at Mid-Ohio. It will be the first-ever appearance at the Mid-Ohio course for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. It’s the only Ohio stop for the truck series and one of two races in the month of July for the series.

New Honda Civic Type R prototype to be revealed at IndyCar race
Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, 7721 Steam Corners Road, Lexington
• The 2023 Honda Civic Type R prototype will make its U.S. debut during the July 1-3 Honda Indy 200 Indycar series weekend. The Type R will be wearing a camouflage designed exclusively for it and make several demonstration hot laps during the weekend. The car recently set a track record for a front-wheel car at the Suzuka Circuit.

Wine and dine: Cheers! Columbus Summer Wine Festival returns to Whitehall with food trucks, music
Tour de Grandview
Grandview Avenue
• The Tour de Grandview Cycling Classic brings in several hundred professional cyclists to central Ohio each year. The tour is organized by the city of Grandview Heights and numerous volunteers and sponsors. The cyclists will bike through the streets of suburban Grandview, and there will be multiple events and activities for spectators. The race will begin at 5:30 p.m. June 10.

Nitro Circus Live: Good, Bad & Rad

• In the mood for some extreme sports? The Nitro Circus Live event may be a good choice. This live extreme sport event will bring in athletes, world-class daredevils and more from all around the country who are at the top of their game in BMX, skating, scooters and everything in between. The event will be held at 7 p.m. June 24.
