Teen charged in shooting outside Groveport-Madison football game against Canal Winchester
An 18-year-old Columbus man faces felony charges in connection to a shooting during Groveport-Madison High School's home football game with Canal Winchester on Friday night.
James Keys, 18, of Columbus, remains in the Franklin County Jail on charges of improper discharge of a firearm and inducing panic, both second-degree felonies.
An arraignment is scheduled for Monday morning, according to online court records.
Police from Groveport, Madison Township and Columbus, along with Franklin County Sheriff's deputies, responded to the school on South Hamilton Road, just south of Route 33, after several gunshots were reported about 9:10 p.m.

The gunfire happened in the fourth quarter and sent crowds of fans running from the stadium in all directions. It was not immediately clear where on the school property the shots were fired, or how close they were to the stadium.

Officers detained Keys and one juvenile after the shooting, which happened outside of the stadium and did not result in any injuries, according to Groveport police. Authorities released the juvenile to his mother and booked Keys into the Franklin County jail.

Investigators later determined six rounds were fired from a Glock 10 mm handgun, which had been altered to make it fully automatic, police said.
Additional charges are expected, and the incident remains under investigation.
