Columbus woman accused of opening fire in work transport van appears in Recorder’s Court

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL)— Wednesday, the woman accused of opening fire in a transport van last week appeared in Recorder’s Court.

Tiyanka Williamson, 31, is accused of shooting and injuring two individuals. She now faces six total counts of aggravated assault, one count of theft by taking a motor vehicle, and one count of a weapons charge.

Two people were injured in Friday’s shooting. Timothy Tolliver was shot in the chest and remains in the ICU. Calvin Davis was shot through his left ear.

Tolliver’s father and Davis testified Wednesday morning in front of Chief Judge David Ranieri.

Tyler Tolliver, father of the victim: “He’s still alive, we’re going to try and get him out today but he’s having a difficult time.”

Nick Hudd, Assistant District Attorney: “Did they end up putting a breathing tube in him?”

Tyler Tolliver: “They just took the breathing tube out yesterday.”

Nick Hudd: “And is there anything else you’d like the court to know about his condition?”

Tyler Tolliver: “It’s just going to take some time; it will take time.”

Nick Hudd: “And you have feelings as to whether or not the defendant should have a bond or not?”

Tyler Tolliver: “She shouldn’t have a bond.”

Witnesses report Williamson was attempting to shoot Davis; however, Davis ducked, and Tolliver was struck as he was seated behind him on the van.

Williamson’s Defense Attorney: “So you you’re saying there’s an altercation over her seat? Was it that you were sitting in a seat she wanted or that you were behind her?”

Calvin Davis, victim: “It was a seat that she wanted before that day I got shot. And the next day, I guess she had that grudge.”

Williamson’s Defense Attorney: “And you were sitting behind her there?”

Calvin Davis: “Yeah”

Williamson’s Defense Attorney: “And she wanted the seat that was currently behind her, she didn’t want to sit in the front?”

Calvin Davis: “She didn’t want me sitting behind her, and you wanted me to move too much, then you doing too much. So nah, I’m not going to move.”

Det. Bobby Jackson with the Columbus Police Department testified the shooting stemmed from a verbal argument over seating arrangement on the transport van. Davis also testified to the argument saying they had argued the day before the shooting and the day of about seating arrangements on the van.

Chief Judge Ranieri ordered Williamson be held without bond on all charges. The case was bound over to superior court.

Earlier this week WRBL reported there may be additional charges of kidnapping because Williamson is accused of driving away with the van with one occupant inside. That occupant has decided against pressing charges for kidnapping or aggravated assault.
