‘Combative’ woman rescued from cliff near Pismo Beach hotel

First responders rescued a “combative” woman from a cliff near a beachfront Pismo Beach hotel on Friday afternoon, according to emergency services app Pulsepoint.

Cal Fire and the Pismo Beach Police Department responded to a call for a cliff rescue near Dolphin Bay Resort & Spa in Shell Beach around 2:57 p.m. Friday.

According to Pulsepoint, a woman was spotted about 40 feet above the bottom of the cliff near an excavator at the south end of a construction site on the Dolphin Bay property.

Rescuers made their way down the cliff to the woman, Pulsepoint said, coming in contact with her around 25 feet from the cliff base.

According to Pulsepoint, the woman was “combative” as she was brought down to the beach.

A helicopter was dispatched to pick her up from the beach below the cliffside, Pulsepoint said.

The Pismo Beach Police Department shared a picture of the rescue efforts on Instagram.
