Artists throughout history have been inspired by the sea and its endless rhythms and mysteries. This summer the Norton will be featuring beautiful beach scenes, dramatic seascapes, ships, marine life and more through their exhibition Of Sea and Shore.

Also showcasing this summer is local scribbler Kirk Reedstrom's Squiggle Party, where your creative side will be able to come out in this interactive exhibition. Come see Reedstrom's fun and fantastical illustrations and add a few of your own as well.

Originally from Houston, Reedstrom spent most of his childhood drawing and reading Calvin and Hobbes. He studied at Centenary College and interned with William Joyce at Moonbot Studios before becoming a bookseller at Blue Willow Bookshop.

Now, Reedstrom spends most of his time doodling with his wife, Sarah Duet, and working on his monthly newsletter Somebody Write This Book filled with drawing and story prompts. Reedstrom's comics and zines have been featured in publications like Salon, Relief Journal, The Quaranzine and All Things Considered. His debut graphic novel series Duck And Moose will be published by Disney-Hyperion in 2024.

The opening reception for both of these new exhibitions will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 1, at the Norton.
