Come see 'SIX' with The Providence Journal and share your review

Want to rule your world?

Or, at least, be a part of writing The Providence Journal’s next theater review?

The Providence Journal, in collaboration with the Providence Performing Arts Center, is doing something we’ve never done before. We want to take one reader, chosen randomly, with us to see the musical "SIX" and help us write the review.

As "SIX" is a musical all about empowerment, inclusivity and rethinking how we tell stories, this smart pop music celebration feels like the perfect place to start.

How it works

To keep it fair, it's a sweepstakes. Enter your email address for one entry, and then we will pick one winner at random to come with us to the show. Sweepstakes will be open until Monday, April 10, at noon.

You’ll be met at PPAC by a Providence Journal reporter, and you’ll watch the show together. At the end, the reporter will ask you some questions that we'll use to help us write the review of the show.

Here are the catches or perks, depending on how you look at it:

  • It’s only the one ticket, and you’re coming to the show with the Providence Journal engagement reporter Katie Landeck.

  • At the end of the show, Landeck has a list of questions for you to answer on video for your review of the performance. You have to be willing to answer these questions.

  • You have to be able to go the show on Wednesday, April 12 at 7 p.m. The show is 80 minutes with no intermission. If you can’t go at that time, we will choose another winner.

  • While we think this will be a lot of fun, the review is for publication and must meet our standards.

What to know about 'SIX'

The show, which the New York Times said “totally rules,” tells the stories of Henry VIII’s six wives, who famously met fates of “divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded and survived.” The pop show bills itself as a “euphoric celebration of 21st-century girl power.”

The cast for the tour features Gerianne Pérez as Catherine of Aragon, Zan Berube as Anne Boleyn, Amina Faye as Jane Seymour, Terica Marie as Anna of Cleves, Aline Mayagoitia as Katherine Howard, and Sydney Parra as Catherine Parr.

"SIX" won 23 awards in the 2021/2022 Broadway season, including the Tony Award for Best Original Score and the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Musical.

"SIX" runs at PPAC, 220 Weybosset St., Providence, from April 11 through April 23. For more information about the show, go to ppacri.org.
