Late comeback falls short as Iowa State knocks off Kansas

AMES, Iowa (KSNT) – No. 7 Kansas men’s basketball traveled to one of the toughest road environments in the sports with a matchup at No. 23 Iowa State Saturday.

Hot shooting from the Cyclones early was too much for the Jayhawks to overcome late, as Iowa State pulled off the upset win 79-75.

Iowa State made 14 3-pointers in the contest as part of a high-scoring second half from both teams. Kansas was able to pull within two points with less than a minute to play after trailing by as much as 12 in the second half.

Hunter Dickinson paced the Jayhawks with 20 points and 15 rebounds. Kevin McCullar Jr. added 16 points, Johnny Furphy 15 and KJ Adams Jr. 13.

The loss moves the Jayhawks’ record to 16-4, 4-3 in the Big 12. Kansas returns home to host Oklahoma State on Tuesday, Jan. 30.
