Noah is best known for replacing Jon Stewart as the host of the Comedy Central late-night talk show, where he has been host for the last seven years since 2015. He began his comedy career in his birth nation of South Africa, where his experiences as a Black man growing up in apartheid became the basis of his autobiography, "Born a Crime," published in 2016.

Named to the "Time 100" list in 2018, Noah has also hosted two Grammy Award ceremonies and served as the host of the White House Correspondents' Dinner in 2022.

Noah's performance will mark the second straight year a comedian will be among the Grandstand performers. Gabriel Iglesias performed at the fair last year.

State Fair Manager Rebecca Clark said with Noah being confirmed for the final slot, the Grandstand lineup provides diversity not seen at the fair in years.

"To be able to secure a big name in comedy to round out our 2022 grandstand lineup is something we are really excited about," Clark said. "This is one of our most diverse lineups in years with multiple music genres represented, a popular comedian and harness racing to kick it all off. We cannot wait to welcome fairgoers in August."
