First things first: Comedian Fortune Feimster opts for brisket and pulled pork when she visits Austin's La Barbecue, owned by her friends.

This was obviously the most important thing we discussed with Feimster ahead of her "Live, Laugh, Love Tour" shows on Feb. 25 and Feb. 26 at the Paramount Theatre. We're joking, we're joking. It's just that Feimster is from North Carolina, so she knows how important barbecue is to us southerners.

Feimster started her career on "Chelsea Lately" as a writer and panelist. She's since starred in the "The Mindy Project," and has had guest roles on "Glee," "Nora From Queens," and "2 Broke Girls."

She will appear in an unnamed Netflix spy adventure series headed by Arnold Schwarzenegger later this year. Feimster got to do a lot of action work in the show.

"I'm just excited for people to see it, because this is one of those big, fun, entertaining shows and definitely something that was out of my wheelhouse, but really so happy I got to have that experience," she said.

Feimster will visit Dallas on Thursday and Friday, before heading down to Austin.

As we said, this is not her first time in Austin. Feimster visited friends in Austin before she eventually started testing out stand up at Cap City Comedy. She's performed at the Paramount before and at Moontower Just For Laughs Comedy festival.

"Doing stand up there is so fun. It's one of the best comedy cities. The audiences really enjoy it and they're ready for anything," Feimster said.

Feimster has been touring across the U.S for 13 years and has found that Austin has a more laid back vibe than other cities.

"Austin is kind of its own thing," she said.

Her special "Good Fortune" was released on Netflix in October. In the special, Feimster chronicles how she proposed to her now wife, the couple's dog's life-threatening illness, and her mother's circus wedding. The proposal story is really something to behold.

Feimster will be do a whole new hour during her Austin stops. She'll talk about her honeymoon and how she's settling into marriage. She'll talk about her mom again, too.

"We're at a time in comedy now where it's less about set-up punch lines. People want to know who you are," Feimster said.

Feimster called herself a storyteller.

"So my life and who I am and who I'm with are going to be part of those stories," she said. "I just want to be authentic to that and to myself and, you know, hopefully people can relate to it and resonate with it, no matter if they're gay, straight, or whatever."
