Organizers of the Iowa State Fair added two new acts to the 2023 Grandstand lineup, one a couple friends who rock out and the other a comedian with a cast of characters surrounding him.

First up, rock duo The Black Keys takes the stage on Monday, Aug. 14. The childhood friends initially teamed up in 2001 and went on to release 11 albums so far. “Lo/Hi” became the band's first single to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart.

This marks the first time The Black Keys have played at the Iowa State Fair. They played the Val Air Ballroom in West Des Moines in 2010.

The Velveteers open.

Tickets range from $60 to $125.

Ventriloquist and comedian Jeff Dunham takes the stage on Tuesday, Aug. 15, with his “Still Not Canceled” Tour. Dunham earned the title Top Comedy Tour for three consecutive years from Billboard, as well as a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and a Guinness Book of World Records for most tickets sold for a stand-up comedy tour for his "Spark of Insanity" tour, performing in 386 venues worldwide.

Dunham brings his lineup of friends, including Walter, Peanut, José Jalapeño on a Stick, Achmed the Dead Terrorist, Little Jeff and more. Time magazine once called Dunham “a dressed-down, more digestible version of Don Rickles with multiple personality disorder.”

Dunham last performed in Des Moines in October 2021 at Wells Fargo Arena.

Tickets go for $30 to $65.

Both concerts go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. at iowastatefair.org or 800-514-3849.
