Lubbock's Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences announced several new shows coming in 2022, including an assortment of live comedy and music appealing to a variety of tastes.

Here's a preview of the shows announced this week:

Whiskey Myers

Genre-bending band Whiskey Myers Is A Comin’ Tour is heading to The Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences on March 24, 2022 at 8 p.m. The group has played more than 2,500 live shows since their emergence in 2007 and sold out 95% of their headlining shows during the most recent year of touring to ever-increasing crowds.

Their self-produced fifth studio album, WHISKEY MYERS, out now on the band’s own Wiggy Thump Records, debuted atop the Country and Americana/Folk sales charts, at No. 2 on the Rock chart and No. 6 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart.

The self-titled project follows their previous album, Mud, which reached No. 1 on the iTunes country chart with single “Stone” hitting Top 10 all genre. In total, Whiskey Myers has sold nearly a million albums and amassed more than a billion streams. USA Today describes the band led by front man Cody Cannon as “a riff-heavy blend of Southern rock and gritty country that has earned comparisons to the Allman Brothers Band and Led Zeppelin,” with Rolling Stone noting “it’s the seminal combination of twang and crunchy rock & roll guitars that hits a perfect sweet spot.”

The band known for their high-energy live show and unique sound has also earned sync success with features (and an appearance) in Paramount Network’s Kevin Costner hit show “Yellowstone” as well as the Renée Zellweger-led Netflix series “What/If.”

Tickets went on sale to the public on Friday and range in price from $30 to $55 plus taxes and fees. Tickets are available at buddyhollyhall.com, by calling ETIX at (800) 514-3849, and at The Buddy Holly Hall Box Office located at 1300 Mac Davis Lane, Monday through Friday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

"Five decades of The Marshall Tucker Band ... sometimes it’s still hard to understand,” says MTB lead singer Doug Gray. "We are just regular people. The fans have given us so many special moments over these 50 years. I’m so proud of our band."

In 1972, original members Toy Caldwell, Tommy Caldwell, Doug Gray, Jerry Eubanks, George McCorkle and Paul Riddle came together in Spartanburg, S.C. to form a southern rock band. They knew they had the magic for something that could reach people well beyond the South Carolina state line. They had the sound, the look, and the camaraderie. Problem was, they didn’t have a name. One day while rehearsing in a local warehouse, they came across a key ring with the inscription, ‘Marshall Tucker.’ It belonged to a blind piano tuner who resided in Spartanburg. It was this fated discovery that inspired the band's moniker, and in that moment, The Marshall Tucker Band was born.

Dave Mason will join the legendary group on select live concert dates. "I'm really looking forward to joining the 50th anniversary celebration of this extraordinary band,” says Mason. "I’ve been waiting to get back on the road, and this is quite the opportunity to bring great music to everybody, everywhere."

Ticket sales opened Friday and range in price from $29.50 to $79.50 plus taxes and fees. Tickets are available at buddyhollyhall.com, by calling ETIX at (800) 514-3849, and at The Buddy Holly Hall Box Office located at 1300 Mac Davis Lane, Monday through Friday from noon to 4 p.m.

John Crist

Comedian John Crist will be bringing his Fresh Cuts Comedy Tour to The Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences on April 9, 2022, at 7 p.m. Crist is one of today’s fast-rising stand-up comedians, with more than one billion video views, four million fans on social media and sold-out shows from coast to coast. Widely known for viral videos like “Honest Football Coach,” “Every Parent at Disney,” “Brands that need to be CANCELLED” plus hundreds more.

In 2019, Crist made Pollstar’s Top 100 Global Tours list, with over 197,000 tickets sold for his “Human Being Tour.” He held the designation for four consecutive weeks, charting as high as #28. Crist’s comedy has been featured on ESPN, The Today Show, HLN, US Weekly, USA Today, SiriusXM, Buzzfeed, The Huffington Post, Cracked, and even The Golf Channel.

Crist’s 2016 debut comedy special “I Got Questions” is available now on Amazon Prime, DirecTV and Spotify. Beginning in the fall of 2021, John will embark on a 100 show tour all over the country.

Tickets sales opened Friday and range in price from $29.75 to $49.75 plus taxes and fees. Tickets are available at buddyhollyhall.com, by calling ETIX at (800) 514-3849, and at The Buddy Holly Hall Box Office located at 1300 Mac Davis Lane, Monday through Friday from noon to 4 p.m.

“The Fresh Cuts Comedy Tour is unlike any tour we’ve ever done. It’s been quite an experience to have been off the road for almost two years and really have time to think, create and build a stand-up show that is all new, fresh and funny,” says John. “I recently performed at a few small venues in preparation for the tour, and fans were SO grateful to just be outside, in a social setting amongst friends. Especially with comedy, it feels like the more the world is kind of upside down, the better the comedy. There really is no better therapy than coming together for a night of laughter.”

Tim Allen

Award-winning actor and comedian Tim Allen will bring his stand-up comedy to The Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences on May 7, 2022, at 8 p.m. Most recently, Allen starred on the hit sitcom “Last Man Standing” which aired its ninth and final season on FOX in 2021. Allen starred as Mike Baxter, a happily married father of three daughters, who finds himself the odd man out as he tries to maintain his manliness in a home dominated by women.

Allen was also the star and executive producer of the competition series “Assembly Required” which premiered in February 2021 on HISTORY. Allen reunited with his “Home Improvement” co-star Richard Karn who served as series host, marking the 30th anniversary of the pair’s original television debut.

Allen reprised his role as Buzz Lightyear in Disney’s Oscar-winning “Toy Story 4” with Tom Hanks, Keanu Reeves, Tony Hale, Annie Potts, Christina Hendricks, and Keegan-Michael Key. The film opened #1 at the box office on June 21, 2019, and has grossed over $1 billion worldwide.

He made his film debut in 1994, playing a holiday icon in “The Santa Clause,” earning him another People’s Choice Award. In 1995, he voiced the beloved, yet deluded, space ranger Buzz Lightyear in the CGI smash hit “Toy Story.” In 1997, Allen starred in the hit comedies “Jungle 2 Jungle” and “For Richer or Poorer.”

Allen continues to perform stand-up shows to sold-out crowds across the country. He honed his talents as a stand-up comic throughout the eighties, providing the perfect lead-in to his highly successful ABC television series “Home Improvement” where he garnered a Golden Globe Award, an Emmy nomination, and was honored with the People’s Choice Award for “Favorite Male Performer in a Television Series” for an unprecedented eight years in a row.

You may know Anjelah Johnson-Reyes for her viral sketch "Nail Salon" (over 100 million views worldwide) or her beloved MadTV character Bon Qui Qui (65 million views worldwide), but it's her clean humor and hilarious storytelling that make her one of the most successful stand-up comedians today.
