On the heels of Modesto’s Graffiti Summer comes “American Laughiti,” a local comedy competition at the State Theatre. There’s another comedy show set at the State, this summer’s YES Company production and a chance to sample Greek treats. Here’s a look at some of the entertainment options in the region July 22-28.
“Laughiti”
Local comedy competition “American Laughiti” comes to the State Theatre in Modesto. The top eight fan-voted comedians will perform live for cash prizes — including a grand prize of $5,000 — as the audience votes for its favorites. This year’s comedians are Rhoda Ramone, Adam Keys, Bassil Kamas, Ying Vigilan, Scott Powers, Danielle Arce, Nick Larson and Asia Chardonay. The show is for mature audiences.

Greek celebration
Get some “Tastes of the Mediterranean” at Modesto’s Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. The evening event will offer wine and beer tastings featuring local wineries and breweries, along with Greek appetizers.
