Comedy video footage shows otters trying to enjoy Halloween treats hidden inside pumpkin

Otters at a Washington zoo definitely didn’t miss out on any Halloween fun this weekend, enjoying their own special pumpkin full of treats.

The Asian small-clawed river otters were treated to hollowed-out pumpkins full of ‘juicy worms’, with comedy footage showing them desperately trying to get to their snacks.

Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle, Washington, marked Halloween weekend with a ‘Pumpkin Bash’, treating the otters to Halloween-themed objects to explore.

The zoo put a GoPro inside one of the ‘jack-o-lanterns’, recording the otters’ desperate attempts to get to the worms inside.

The video, which has been a hit on social media, shows one poking his nose through holes carved in the pumpkin then trying to reach inside to get to the worms.

The zoo wrote: “Our Asian small-clawed river otters received a special Halloween treat this year.”

It added: “Along with new bedding (straw), and Halloween themed objects to explore, the otter lodge was treated to a jack-o-lantern full of juicy worms. Mmm.

“We stuck a GoPro inside the gourd to give you a terrifying perspective.”

Another video released by the zoo shows the otters - whose names are Guntur, Teratai, Maxwell, Chancellor, Sherman, Thomas, Peanut, Valerie, Boo and Cliff - darting across their enclosure to check out the Halloween-themed additions to their home and to play in new straw bedding.
