Comet Neowise Streaks Across Clear Night Sky Over Netherlands

Comet Neowise was filmed streaking across the clear sky over the Netherlands during a still summer night on July 13.

Mark McCaughrean recorded this time-lapse video showing the comet’s tail streaming behind it while the sound of frogs is heard in the background.

The comet – which measures approximately three miles across – was expected to be visible to the naked eye from Earth throughout July. Its closest approach was due to take place on July 22, and it would not be seen again from Earth for approximately 6,800 years, according to NASA. Credit: Twitter/@markmccaughrean via Storyful
