Comic books, museums and new restaurants make business headlines: Business in the 318

Hello Shreveport and welcome back to Business in the 318. It has been a week of business for the Shreveport-Bossier area, from staple comic book store offering free comic books to Shreveport receiving a national recognition. If you missed anything do not fret.

Excalibur opened its doors in the late '80s as the headquarters for comic books, graphic novels, sports cards, t-shirts, Funko Pop Vinyls, Doctor Who and so much more.

To this day it is one of the only comic book stores in the Shreveport-Bossier area.

On Saturday, Excalibur gave out free comic books for free comic book day.

Meet the woman now running a historic Shreveport museum

LSUS alumna Claudia Finley has been named as operations manager at the Spring Street Museum.

Finley earned a bachelor’s degree in history with a concentration in political science in 2021.

Finley will be responsible for daily museum operations and will work with the university to develop exhibits.

Louisiana hospital earns the comprehensive stroke center certification

A Shreveport hospital received a certification that recognizes facilities that treat the most complex stroke cases, recognizing advanced treatment techniques and highly standardized, reliable care.

Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport-Academic Medical Center announced that they received The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval and the American Stroke Association’s Heart-Check mark for Comprehensive Stroke Center Certification.

McAlister's opened its second store on Mansfield Road in Shreveport

McAlister's Deli on Mansfield Road will opened on Monday. The restaurant gave away free tea for a year to the first 100 guests in line on opening day.

McAlister's was founded in 1989, as a fast-casual restaurant chain known for its hospitality, sandwiches, spuds, soups, salads, desserts and McAlister's famous sweet tea.

This restaurant will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday through Thursday. On Friday and Saturday, it will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.
