Comic Rachel Feinstein will kick off a hilarious October at The Blue Note

Rachel Feinstein is the perfect person to usher in a funny fall in Columbia. The comedian and actress, who marries searing critique with unforced charm, will perform at The Blue Note Friday.

An accomplished standup, Feinstein's act moves effortlessly from discussion of ever-evolving sexual mores to social oversharing and her experiences as a firefighter's wife. She brilliantly sounds her own voice and vantage point, while navigating the world of characters around her with a gloriously backhanded empathy.

Feinstein's on-screen credits reach deep into comedy circles, with work on the Pete Holmes sitcom "Crashing" and the smash sketch show "Inside Amy Schumer," among others.

Friday's show initiates a strong standup lineup at the Ninth Street venue throughout the month of October. Other upcoming shows include:

  • One of the more distinct voices, literally and figuratively, in modern comedy, actor and filmmaker Bobcat Goldthwait performs Oct. 15.

  • Canadian performer Che Durena, who has channeled his comedic power both in comedy clubs and online, plays Oct. 19.

  • Comic Kountry Wayne, whose Netflix special "A Woman's Prayer" dropped earlier this year, closes the month with a show Oct. 29.

Feinstein will perform at The Blue Note at 7 p.m. Friday; tickets are $25. Visit https://thebluenote.com/ for details.
