Our comics pages are changing. Here's what you can read

Starting Oct. 3, loyal readers of the Tri-County Independent comics page will notice some changes.

As tastes and trends evolve, the USA TODAY Network is refreshing its offerings. You may see some unfamiliar characters on our pages, but rest assured that old favorites like Beetle Bailey and Dennis the Meance will still be there.

Whether comics are the first thing you turn to in the paper or you save them until after you’ve read the news, we know these long-running strips are an important part of the reader experience.

Every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, you’ll still see Beetle Bailey, Zits, Family Circus and Dennis the Menace. Blondie and Hagar will join the lineup, while Bizarro and The Lockhorns will depart.

Our eNewspaper includes the same comics as our print edition. More comics (including Bizarro and The Lockhorns) are available every day at tricountyindependent.com/comics.

These changes are occurring across the USA TODAY Network, including at our northeast Pennsylvania sister publication, the Pocono Record. Presenting a more standardized package of comics allows us to invest more in the local journalism that readers — and our Honesdale-based staff — value so much.

We hope you’ll still read, and laugh, along with us.
