Memorial to be dedicated to veteran in Weymouth

WEYMOUTH –  A dedication ceremony will take place for a memorial to  Midshipman Elmer C. Donnelly at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 28, at King Oak Hill Park, 0 Emery Lane, Weymouth. Donnelly was awarded the United States Merchant Marine Distinguished Service Medal during World War II and will be honored for his service. Guitar concert at Kingston library Saturday

Seniors can learn how to look at art

He has been donating platelets for about 10 years. The Weymouth Donation Center collects blood daily from donors by appointment. Walk-ins are welcome if staff is available.

Blood drive to be held in Hingham on Tuesday

HINGHAM – The town will host blood drive through the Red Cross from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, at the Hingham Senior Center, 224 Central St. Donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and in good health. Those 16 years old can donate with a consent form signed by a parent or a legal guardian. Braintree credit union gives 100 books to Quincy nonprofit

QUINCY – NeighborWorks Housing Solutions, a nonprofit that works to provide affordable housing, received a gift of 100 books from Braintree's Liberty Bay Credit Union. The books will be distributed to NeighborWorks programs and a portion of the donation will create a small library in a Quincy housing development that provides affordable housing for families and the elderly.
