Braintree Farmer's Market starts Saturday

BRAINTREE – The Braintree Farmer's Market will begin its outdoor season Saturday, June 18. The market hours will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday through Oct. 15 at Braintree Town Hall, 1 John F. Kennedy Memorial Drive. More than 30 vendors will be participating in this year's markets, offering everything from local produce, meat and fish to artisan foods, wine and personal care items. Chakra Power Yoga will offer a free, all-levels yoga class at 11 a.m. on the town hall mall through Aug. 27.

Dogwood Days at Wakefield Arboretum in Milton

MILTON – The annual Dogwood Days will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily through Sunday, June 19, at the Mary May Binney Wakefield Arboretum, 1465 Brush Hill Road. Guided tours and activities are planned each day. The arboretum is open during Dogwood Days with a $5 entrance fee. Racism film, discussion at Norwell church

NORWELL –  The Racial Justice Ministry team at UCC Norwell  will screen "Traces of the Trade: A Story from the Deep North" and offer a picnic supper starting at 5 p.m. Friday, June 17, at 460 Main St. There will then be a conversation about racism past and present in New England led by Dain Perry,  a descendant of the DeWolf family, whose story is told in the documentary, and his wife, Constance Perry, a descendant of slaves.

'Jazz Age' for adults at Quincy library Friday

QUINCY – Adults 21 and older are invited to "After Hours at the Thomas Crane Public Library: Jazz Age!" from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, June 17, at the library,, 40 Washington St. There will be dance demos from a trained instructor, a silent film, vintage games, food, drink and entertainment. Singers to perform 'American Vignettes' in Scituate

SCITUATE – The Pilgrim Festival Singers will perform a four-concert summer series titled "American Vignettes" starting at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 17, at  First Trinitarian Congregational Church, 381 Country Way, Scituate. Another performance will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, June 26, at St. Bonaventure Parish, 801 State Road, Plymouth. There also will be performances in Plympton and Middleboro. Great River Race registration underway

NORWELL –  Non-motorized watercraft for the North and South Rivers Watershed Association's Great River Race can be registered by noon Friday, July 22. The 7.5-mile race will begin at 9:15 a.m. Sunday, July 24, at the Bridge Street Canoe Launch in Norwell and conclude in Hanover. All skill levels and ages are welcome. Racers 16 years old or younger must be accompanied by an adult. Advance registration costs $55 for the first person per craft and day-of registration is $65.
