Flood insurance program to be held in Marshfield

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Community Rating System Committee invites residents to its annual flood insurance outreach program from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 12, at the office of the Marshfield harbormaster. The outreach will consist of a short presentation on flood insurance, followed by a question-and-answer session. Maddie's Promise hosts gala on May 13

HINGHAM – Nonprofit organization Maddie's Promise will host its second gala, "An Evening of Promise," from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday, May 13, at South Shore Country Club, 274 South St. There will be music, dancing, cocktails, live auctions, raffles and more. Rabies vaccination clinic planned for Saturday in Braintree

BRAINTREE – A rabies vaccination clinic will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 14, at the side entrance to town hall, 1 John F. Kennedy Memorial Parkway. The vaccination fee is $15 per animal and owners are asked to bring their pet's current rabies certificate to the clinic. Dog licenses from the town clerk's office will be available. The cost is $15 or $10 with documentation that the dog has been spayed or neutered.

Memorial flower sale Saturday in Houghs Neck

QUINCY – The annual Dorothy Laing Memorial Spring Flower Sale sponsored by the Houghs Neck Community Council will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at the intersection of Sea and Rockland streets. There will be flats of annuals, including pansies, petunias, impatiens, zinnias, dahlias, cosmos, snapdragons, marigolds and more. Those who are unable to attend can pick up flowers from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. during the week at E&T Ceramics, 367 Billings Road. For more information, call 617-479-4107.

Archaeologist to speak at historical society

QUINCY – Ed Fitzgerald, chief archaeologist of a recent dig at the Dorothy Quincy Homestead, will speak about the dig and show artifacts found near the home at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at the Quincy Historical Society, 8 Adams St.

Pancake breakfast to raise money for Weymouth organizations

WEYMOUTH – The Weymouth Rotary Club will host the Tom “Terrific” Tanner Pancake Breakfast from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Sunday, May 15, at the Whipple Center, 182 Green St. Proceeds will support the Weymouth police K-9 unit, Weymouth elder services, the food pantry and student scholarships. QArts Gallery presents watercolor exhibit

QUINCY – Artist Marco Vizcarra will exhibit more than 20 watercolor works through June 19 at the QArts Gallery, 1229 Hancock St. The gallery is open Thursday and Friday from 2 to 5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. A free reception with the artist will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 14. ROCKLAND – South Shore Health will host a presentation titled "Your Lungs and the Respiratory System" from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, on Zoom.
