Cohasset church raising money for Ukrainian children

COHASSET – The Unitarian First Parish Church will raise money for UNICEF’s relief programs to aid Ukrainian children during the Cohasset Village Fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, on the Cohasset Common. The church's table will be in the Unitarian Universalist Parish house at 23 North Main St., where financial donations will be collected. Donations can also be made online. QUINCY – The Thomas Crane Library will present “The Highwaymen: Songs and Stories of Matt York” from 7 to 8:15 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, at 40 Washington St. York plays songs by Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson and Waylon Jennings – members of the former country supergroup The Highwaymen. Holiday story hour Wednesday at Pembroke library

PEMBROKE – The Pembroke Public Library will hold the Celebrations of Light Story Hour with fabulist John Porcino from 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 142 Center St. The program weaves a collection of tales and songs to celebrate the holiday season. Lobster trap Christmas tree lighting set for Dec. 9 in Cohasset

COHASSET – The 10th annual lighting of the Cohasset lobster trap Christmas tree is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at the Olde Salt House, 44 Border St. Those wishing to participate in a buoy-decorating contest can pick up supplies at the Legion post, 98 Summer St., for $20. All proceeds benefit the veterans food pantry.

Kingston artist's work on exhibit at library

KINGSTON – The Kingston Public Library’s art gallery will exhibit the work of Kingston resident Rose Mamakos throughout December. Mamakos’ abstract style features bright and vibrant colors and replicates a sense of movement on the canvas. The library is at 6 Green St. and is open Monday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Marshfield survey seeks residents' views on emergency plan

MARSHFIELD – Town residents can take a survey about the town's 2023 Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan to prepare for potential emergencies, including coastal flooding and erosion, severe storms and droughts.
