Amazon.com plans to open a store at Providence Place mall.
The Amazon 4-star store will feature top-selling, new and trending products that have been rated at four stars or above on Amazon.com, according to information on the company's website.
The website doesn't indicate when the store will open, only that it's "coming soon."
Amazon is seeking a lead retail associate for the store, at a pay rate of $16.50 per hour, according to an advertisement on LinkedIn.
"Join the Amazon Stores team that launched Amazon Books and Amazon 4-star," the advertisement says. "Our stores provide a unique, physical extension of Amazon.com through a highly curated assortment of unique in-store shopping experience where customers can discover the next product they’ll love and interact with our knowledgeable and engaging associates. If you want to join a fast-paced, innovative team that is making history and breaking new ground for Amazon, this is the place for you."
Amazon has been tight-lipped about the store's opening date, but spokeswoman Kelsey Friedrich expressed enthusiasm about its launch.
"We’re excited to bring Amazon’s 4-star store to Providence, the first Amazon 4-star location in Rhode Island," she said.
Friedrich said the stores include "devices, consumer electronics, toys, games, books, kitchen, home, and more."
In Southern New England, there's an Amazon 4-star store in Natick. Another is scheduled for opening in Milbury, Massachusetts, according to Amazon's website.
Amazon is building a 3.9-million-square-foot shipping facility in Johnston. In 2017, it opened a facility in Fall River.
